And just in time for Valentine’s Day, they are calling it The HeartBreak Shop. Featured are paintings by Jon Stitch, and very nice photography and concept photos by Kristyn Stroble. We are going to take photos soon, in the afternoon,...

Monocle on Bloomberg: Because so many of us have...
Monocle Magazine, which we have definitely come around on over the past half year, saw a new television series launch on the financial and business broadcaster Bloomberg this past weekend. For all of us that want to look like we want to know about the uniforms of stewardesses on Korean Air and how they reflect a clean sophisticated modernity, then you should click here and start watching.

A vacation item to look forward to: Wings + Horns...
We have been pondering 3 vacation spots: NYC, Portland, or Palm Springs, mainly because when we get there, we can stay at the Ace Hotel and have one of these Wings + Horns Custom Bathrobes for ACE Hotel waiting for us. Who doesn’t want a thick sweatshirt fleece material on your body whilst on vacation? You are foolish to say you aren’t into it.

Fleet Foxes are back, with album and new title...
A good time to come back, early in the year. Fleet Foxes, the band that sort of swept us all up in Americana spirit back in 2008, is back with a new album and now released title track, “Helplessness Blues.” We were always smitten with the band because it seemed they took a few minutes to write a tune, added texture and vocal care in each note. Their sound seemed ancient, but...

Egyptian National Museum a target with protestors
The Egyptian Military has detained over 50 men trying to break into the Egyptian National Museum and loot some of country’s archaeological treasures, if not the world’s archaeological treasures. Luckily, the gold funerary mask of King Tutankhamun that draws millions of tourists a year was not harmed, at least yet. It is amazing how we in the West care so much about the art in a...

INSA's "Graffiti Fetish Mural” in Los Angeles
JSG released some really nice shots of INSA’s “Graffiti Fetish Mural” done in Los Angeles a few weeks back for the LA Freewalls Project. We are all about that blue that London-based INSA used, really electric. INSA is opening a gallery show this Thursday, February 3 at FIFTY24SF Gallery, a show we are looking forward to. More to come.

Madlib Mondays: Erykah Badu's "The Healer"
We go back to the continuing collaboration between Erykah Badu and Madlib, this time looking at the track “The Healer” from Badu’s New Amerykah album. The track has all the Madlib signatures, including handclap drumbeat, a bit of a radio sample intro, and sophisticated tempo. Add that with the Dilla tribute from Badu, and this is a strong, moving track.

Aaron Farley
There are certain photographs that capture the energy a particular moment in time has to offer.  Aaron Farley has a unique ability to not only capture that energy, but to do so in a way that articulates the emotion of that moment clearly to its viewer.  His photos are candid, natural, and loose yet precise at the same time.  Beyond this natural artistic ability, Aaron has worked hard to...

Michael Jordan x Nike Commercials
We are getting to that time of year where the NBA starts popping up as Sunday afternoon viewing on national TV. The NBA, at this moment in time, is full of talent, lots of great players are in the beginning stages of their career. The problem is, none of the great, great players are likable and/or massively marketable like Michael Jordan. Sure, Kevin Durant, Kobe, Lebron James, all amazing...

Francis Ford Coppola on Modern Filmmaking
We like Francis Ford Coppola’s rules for filmmaking: 1) Write and direct original screenplays, 2) make them with the most modern technology available, and 3) self-finance them. But it is not like FFC came up with this idea while sipping red wine in Napa. This is a career of evolving and progressing and making mistakes and then not making mistakes. There is a great interview with Coppola...

Sunday Shuffle: Women "Bullfight"
One of our favorite bands of the past few years, Women, look like they may be headed to the sad ending of an onstage fight turned breakup. But what they have left in their wake, including the fantastic Public Strain LP and now this single “Bullfight,” will be a mark of growing respect for the Canadian band in the years to come.

We have always been a fan of the work of London’s EINE, whose blocks letters and sign paintings have been some of the most solid in all of street art. EINE is showing at White Walls in San Francisco soon, so this is a good preview. It was shot over a weekend with the artist. Good looking out.

We are going real Hindenburg Disaster on this one. Recorded in October 1968, and released on the debut Led Zeppelin album, “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” sounds like an atomic bomb going off on rock music. Even in the early moments of their career, Zeppelin sound like a completely thought out, realized sound. This is still our favorite Zeppelin track.

Graduated half-a-year early and through a modicum of different jobs (some legal, some questionable) I saved up enough for a ticket to Frankfurt, with a final destination a few hundred miles away in Paris. Biden to Boehner: "I Hope This Doesn't Hurt"
Do you ever get the feeling that VP Joe Biden is the closest thing the Democrats have to a Republican, in terms of style and demeanor? Joe would just annoy the crap out of us if we were across party lines. Just a pompous, having a good time, never to be -un-elected Senator turned Vice President. Smug, loyal as all hell, and the “good old boy” that you just have to admire.

But guess what, it’s been the tits for ages and the London Porter is one of the best American examples of the style you’ll ever have.” The fact that they call this beer tits for ages is a selling point.
